How to upload 3D from Sony Handycam to Youtube (see description below)

The 3D Handycam records in .m2ts format which Youtube does not upload as 3D. This video was first converted to .MP4 format using Media Converter 8 during its free 15 day trial period, setting it to 3D MP4 output with maximum resolution (1920 x 1080) and bit rate of 15360 kps. But I guess any conversion programme would work. I then put the Youtube 3D setting (in advanced settings) on 'already 3D' / 'left video on left side'. This doesn't seem to change anything in the recording but it appears to send a signal to the TV allowing it to recognise the film as 3D rather than two side by side images. But is it left on left or right on left? Both give an appearance of depth. It has taken me days to get this far. I hope this helps you get there more quickly.
