I'm Lorie Marrero and today's Clutter Video Tip is about organizing greeting cards. Now there are two things to think about with greeting cards. One is physically being able to find a card when you want to send one, and the other (POP) is being able to remember when to send a card at the right time. So we're going to talk about both of those today. First, finding cards. That is a very easy problem to solve and it's worth buying this product. It is the perfect product. It is simply a greeting card organizer box. I think I got this one at Target. I have seen them at Walmart and Hallmark stores (POP), and they are just a card file box that's the right size for most greeting cards. And they come with dividers. So you can actually customize those. I did with my label maker because I wanted them to (POP) more accurately reflect what kind of categories I would typically keep around for cards. So I do that, I just buy cards and file them in here and if I have extra envelopes laying around the house I put them in the back here in case I can't find an envelope of the right size, this is where I go to look. But that's it. It is a very simple solution. It gives you a lot of visibility because you can just flip through the cards and see what you have. And that problem is solved. Now for the remembering. Many people don't realize that there is a special birthday field in your Outlook Contact Records. It's not on the main screen when you open a new contact, but it is on the Details tab, and you can see that here on your screen. When you fill the date in, in that birthday field, you have this magical thing that happens which is it automatically populates an annual recurring event in your calendar of that person's birthday or anniversary. So as you can see, that's a very handy tool and it allows you to always see that person's birthday on your calendar when you look at it every day. Secondly, you want to have something called a perpetual calendar. This allows you to see what all occasions are for an entire month; if you want to sit down and write all your birthday cards out for one month at a time, you can just sit and do that and have a list right in front of you. We have a tool for this. It is the Greeting Card Calendar Tool in Excel and that's found on our Free Tips page at clutterdiet.com/freetips. It's on the left sidebar of the page where you'll see some other downloadable documents there. So you can just get that, fill in everyone's birthdays and anniversaries, you can sort the list in different ways (POP), and there are instructions right there in the document for you. All right. The other way that you can remember birthdays and anniversaries is to use our reminder system in our Member area. Along with getting seven-day-a- week access to a team of professional organizers to answer all of your questions, you also get access to this reminder system where you can plug in anything you want, from changing air filters, giving the dog his monthly heartworm medicine, or whatever it is for you, along with the birthdays and anniversaries. And our system will send you an e-mail on that day to remind you to do that. You can find out more at clutterdiet.com/learnmore. See you next time, and may you always be happy and grateful for having more than enough.
